Temporary Residence Registration

Temporary Residence Registration

Postby jorjiana » Fri Apr 13, 2012 9:56 am

Hello all,

I'm a 24 years old girl from Romania, I'll move to Vienna on 15th of May and start work there on 18th..hopefully, If I have all the moving part sorted out.

My future employer requested some documents as he has to apply for a work permit for me (Ro is a new country in EU so work permits are still needed):
Residence Registration Form, Recommendations, School Certificates, Letters of Reference, Passport. They also need the original Documents send to them via DHL, but in advance they need copies via Email.

I don't understand what's with the Residence Registration Form, why is it requested now.
I just got the news yesterday that they want me to work there , and they are already requesting the Residence Registration asap..
My questions are..Is it possible to register with a temporary address? Like a hotel, or a flatshare, etc .. ? I might stay there for about 2 weeks at a hotel or some flat that is rented for short term periods.. until I see some rooms (in flatshares) and that might be something for long term stay.

And do you know if some renting contract with the landlord needs to be provided? I talked to some people who were advertising some apartments for short term stay, and they said they cannot give me any official document.

Any info on the Residence Registration is much appreciated. Also any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks.

How are you going to enter the country if you send them your passport? You can't register unless you have an address (the landlord signs off on it) and then you must do that yourself in person anyway. Ask them to send you the form.

I can enter the country just with my ID.. but I wouldn't send then the passport anyway.. just a legalized copy.

I was not aware you can register without being here, that is the point of registration, aka 'I am here in Austria so now I go register'......I am not sure if your company is just a bit green on these things but perhaps you can say (nicely and professionally) that it is not possible, in accordance with the rules and regulations as has been explained to you.

The official term is melzedettel or equiv - Google is your friend there.

Good luck with everything.
