Bringing Laptop through VIE

Does anyone know if there are any issues with bringing a laptop through VIE ? I've read somewhere( although that info appears to be from a few years back) that if you'r the unlucky one to be pulled off to the side ( i know from personal experience that the customs presence at the airport is quite relaxed) that you might be hit with VAT even if you'r the owner and the laptop appears to have been used (as opposed to being "gift wrapped" or something).

That happened to me once. Once the laptop isn't still in its packaging etc., then there should not be a problem.

Would agree - only problem would be if still apparently boxed etc.

i"ll just be carrying it on one of those after-market foamy zip ups for laptops.
