Citizenship and military service
I really don't think you will be called in for duty. The Husband did it when he was 24 and it wasn't bad. It depends on which unit and place you get. He was in Baden with the tank division and could commute daily. He did get in trouble for asking to borrow a captain's uniform to wear to the casino though....
I'm just like every modern woman trying to have it all. A loving husband, a family. I only wish I had more time to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade. That's all.

This topic reminds me of a song by Charlie Drake (see today's post here):

Wouldn't get you out of Zivildienst. One of the Zivvies at my son's Hort is Canadian/Austrian, only has basic German... but the Hort is attached to a bilingual Grundschule, which is why he ended up there.
scribble.

Then do civil service. Riding around in an ambulance helping sick people is far more worthwhile then shelling upper austrian villages with a howitzer.

shelling upper austrian villages with a howitzer.
Suddenly military service sounds more interesting....
Regarding civil service i just cant seem to find good info in english, everything is (understandably) in german. If you have a link or something i would apreciate it.

Shelling Villages in Upper Austria, let's get real. Howitzer shells are far too expensive and it is bad for tourism.
