Not too bad 2nd hand bike shop after all..

All about transportation (public and private) in, around and from Vienna

Actually, when I heard of the scenario, my associates Vinnie and Luigi went to sort this out earlier yesterday.

It seemed like the issue of respect needed adjustment.

Happy cycling.

Aha! :D Thanks Tom. I could've guessed you and your men were behind this.
So basically my little tantrum was for nothing then? Were you watching around the corner by any chance?

Euhmmm.... I need a (mountain)bike since mine deserted me. (RIP my dear)
I knew about this shop and wanted to go there today, unfortunately i hit the lunch break.
Planned on going tomorrow morning. And only now I read this.
Now, what would you recommend? Should i stay or should i go? :S

i went once, bought a bike on the spot. even went back and had them give me another lock since the one they sold me broke, and then had a different guy look at it in the shop within 6 weeks bc i felt it was doing funny things.

i would suggest bargaining down though....i realized they made a sweet profit on me....

and now is a good time to go, i bought in june and there weren't many choices...

So, I went there, they really have many bikes - even though in the end I would have gone for a new one, because I felt the used ones are a bit too expensive (I am no expert, but rust on the brakes cables? wheels cracked? I'm not paying 169+ euro for those)
The guy let me browse for half an hour without bothering me at all (that is, without even asking me if I needed help).
I have no idea what I should think...

They are pricey, I fully agree. I don't know if you can haggle, if you can't you're probably be better off getting a new one from a sports store who often have good deals for around 100-200 euros. Problem with brand new ones is that they are more likely to get stolen if you tend to cycle and park all around town often. Anything that looks flashy and shiny is more likely to get snatched. Of course you could tape the new bike, or camouflage it in army colours and park it in the bushes.

yeah, a new bike at the sports store, the cheapest one is 199....so if you're in the 179 range at the 2nd hand shop...probably go with the new one, because the 2nd hand one will need work sooner i would imagine. that was my case...
the guy sold me one for 170 at this shop and told me it was orginally 400euro, but it wasn't, it was basically a 199bike...so,, he had just bought it used probably for like 50 euro and made a 120euro profit in 10 minutes...

so if you see an older bike at the 2nd hand shop for 100euro, then its a better deal if it rides well and would get stolen less easily bc it looks crappy, but still bargain with the guy....
as you said, he was really helpful for 30 minutes....
you can even test ride them, i did.
