Maybe some people know about this already, but I thought I would post in anyways.
You can find some bike maps of Vienna and even plan your bike route online!

Well I will try one of them tonight and see if the map was correct (it better be! )

The bad thing about this bike map (if it is the same one I have) is that it ONLY has the names of the streets with a bicycle road on them, all the names of all the other streets are left blank, leaving the cycler completely in the blank too if you want to try and get somewhere with that map, that is on a non cycling road.
Does this sound complicated?
Anyway, let me know if you find the above to be true.

Nope, I can see the names of non-bicycle roads too

Also what I found good is that it shows the one-way roads.

but can't bikers also use one way streets even when they riding the other direction?

Not unless the sign says they can.

Unfortunately it does not show the place where the bike path is one way in one direction and the street is one way in the other direction.

Why would you need that? If there's a one-way road you can go with your bike in the direction of one-way. This is always allowed.
But going in the opposite way on bike is not always allowed (only if the sign say so, but then you would usually have a marking for bikes on the road).

I tested this map yesterday, it is pretty helpful!

So basically what I have noticed: if the road is one-way and it is marked green on the map it means that you are allowed to go in the opposite direction on the bike.
If the road is one-way and it is marked white then you can only go in the same direction with the cars, but not in the opposite direction.

Does it make sence? Well, it does to me!

It is just that I prefer going on the actual bikepath instead of the street (I am not so confident in my biking abilities) and this section confused me (the bike path suddenly becomes one way instead of twoway). They dont show this one the map very well. On the map it looks like it is a one way bike path for the whole street and in the wrong direction....or maybe I am just being silly. Otherwise the map is pretty good, but at times I found it a bit hard to navigate (kept having to zoom in and out in order to get my barings).

I think it just takes some time to get used to the map. I'm sure I will use it from time to time when I have to cycle to some unknown place.

Agree about the navigating, not very convenient.

Hi fellow cyclists - can anyone tell me of a good place to buy a decent but not too expensive second hand bike in Vienna? I want to use it to get to work but must lock it up on the street so don't want anything too new/nice.
Thanks!

I know someone who is buying a new bike because he is too lazy to get his serviced. Interested?
