Dental health system

Postby chefsmith » Wed Jan 11, 2012 12:29 pm

So,
I'm having dental surgery today for the first time in Austria.
I def need one tooth removed, and a few other bits done.

The dentist accepts krankenkasse e cards, but can someone give me a brief rundown of what I can expect. Will I pay now and get refund later, pay now without refund, no payin- it's like a doctOrs visit ?

I was ripped off by a dentist before so just want a rundown of how it works.

Cheers in advance

In my experience it was all covered by the eCard for simple tooth extraction (I had two teeth removed in separate procedures). Whether the "other bits" are covered depends on their precise nature.

when i used to do this in Vienna, i would pay the lot and then get back about half of it.
When in charge ponder. When in trouble delegate. When in doubt mumble. When asked to clarify, say "Trust me".

Root canal was covered for me when I had it previously. And would have thought non-precious metal fillings are too.

Thanks,

was all pretty painless for the extraction, and no charge.

Back in 2 weeks to check the healing and begin the other work.
As far as recommendations go, I'm happy to recommend this guy, all staff very friendly, very clean place andthe dentist was lovely and funny and did a good job as far as extractions go.

My dentist in the 9th is friendly, speaks English from Iceland and got his degree in California.
