Student Resident Permit costs

Postby etegels » Fri Oct 07, 2011 6:12 pm

Hey everyone,

I just moved here about 2 months ago from the States to attend grad school here. I applied for my student resident permit while I was in the States and had to pay about $112 for consular fees. I am curious what those fees are for? Will I have to pay anything when I pick up my permit here in Vienna or were those part of the fees I paid? Being on a very tight student budget, I just want to make sure I allow enough money to pay for it.

Thanks for your help!

If you paid everything already in the US, I doubt you should have to pay anything further.

When extending your visa, however, expect to pay €135. I paid €80 last week when I dropped my documents off and at the end of the month when I pick it up (they give appointments ahead of time now, at least they do at the MA35 for the 20th district; this MA35 is also located in the main building on Dresdner Straße but is separate from everything else) I will have to pay a further €55. In the past I had only paid €130, so it seems that the cost has gone up for whatever reason.

Yep I picked up a card recently and they charged well over 100 first time and asked for more the second. They can ask for anything though really.

No they can't, there are clear rules as to what they ask for. I've never paid more than €130 except the first time I did my visa (there's an initial €5,xx charge, though it may be a bit more or less, for every passport you use. If you replace your passport, new charge).
