VE Brewers Softball 2012

It's softball roundup time again!

Once again, VE is looking to field a weekend team of (at least) twelve intrepid individuals who wish to showcase their softball skills (or lack thereof). The team fee is 800 Euro to cover the cost of the field usage and the season will be played on Saturdays and Sundays in April, May and June (we are again joining the weekend league - per person split on fees comes out to @70 Euro). We have about half of our team returning, it looks like, and already are fielding some interest from new blood. What we are definitely short on, however, is players of the female persuasion, which is more vital than ever as they've increased the number of ladies required on the field from one to two at all times... (and please don't stay silent b/c you're worried about your skills being rusty, etc. That's pretty much our motto!)

Also new this time around:
Championship Game between the winners of each league
All star game for players from both leagues
Performance Sport T-shirts
Bigger strike zone to discourage walks

As always, we are also interested in a few "subs" that we can contact on those days when our some of our regular team is unavailable. (NOTE: just because you're going to be missing a few weeks due to vacation or whatnot, please don't take that as a reason to avoid being a regular and joining the team. Pretty much every single person who plays misses a few games for those reasons. It's just that time of year!)

IF you are interested, please reply to this thread and/or PM me. Also do so if you know someone outside of VE who might like to join in. It's not an "exclusive" team, by any means.

And, despite the quiet nature of this particular thread, we have indeed put together a large enough contingent of players to field a team this season. The roster is full at this point, though I would make space for a fourth player of the female persuasion were one to be interested. Still, if you just now noticed the thread and want to play, don't hesitate to pipe up. We often need subs and a large list of potential players is always good to have (not to mention, until everyone has paid up it's always possible that a spot on the "regular" rotation will open up between now and the start of the season)...

Cool - also useful for our cricket club - people use baseball gloves for some of our fielding drills in training!

i stopped by ice sports this weekend to check out the gloves -- the pickings were pretty slim but the guy working there said they're expecting a baseball shipment in the next week or two

so if anyone was planning to go there for a glove, might want to wait a bit
